lanita

Today she is officially 2 but each day is a birthday of something new and deserves to be celebrated.
Last Saturday, i cooked for her and her brother requested cinnamon apples. She dragged a huge dinning room chair over to climb up to share in the cooking and stick a finger in the sauce.
When she mumbled in Lana-talk something i couldn’t figure out, she took pity on me and walked me to the counter to point at the mandarin that she wanted pealed for her, and then she went to the cabinet and found a cup that she insisted i fill to the brim with the small, mouth sized pieces of succulent fruit. She’s not so good at sharing, even what i’ve prepared for her and when i asked for one slice she shook her head no but tossed me a coy smile.
She can be what is known as a terrible two, can toss herself to the floor, can cry manipulatively at a refusal to do what she wants. Still, she opens my heart and requires it to be shared, even if she’s not good at it, with her brother, Xian.
Happy Birthday, Lanita, thanks for refreshing my soul. PopPop
