Maitetxu Mia was my dad's favorite song.The words means my beloved in Basque. I never found out why he loved this song sung by Mocedades and Placido Domingo, but when he played the album on the record player,he knew all the words and sang it passionately and with a smile on his face. Yesterday, in honor of his birthday, I played the song on my phone while imagining him singing it as he always did, passionately, happily, and with the biggest smile ever.
